If your ear is choped off can you still hear/?

alright i know that it's a little gory but me and my sister were arguing about it the other day and i never really looked into it so i was just wandering.

  1. the outer ear made of cartalige just acts as an ampilifyer, like captures sound. the eardrum is in the inner ear so if it was chopped off you could still hear. and even if it closed up, im sure you can still hear a wee bit


  2. Some people have been born without the outer ear, they can hear just fine.

  3. Your outer ear is just an amplifier, so you would hear but it would be less and somewhat distorted.

  4. Yes you can hear alright but you won't know which way the sound is coming from...
