If your favourite player did not exsist....?

If your favourite player(NHL speaking; past or present player) did not exsist how do you think hockey would be impacted? How different do you think the team would be? Do you think it would have a big impact? Do you think the team or teams he played with would be any better or worse without the player? How would the NHL be effected by the absence of the player? And basically questions like this.

My answer would be drastically. If Jaromir Jagr did not exsist, I do not think Pittsburgh would have the two cups it already has. He was a big factor to their victories. Yes, he was young, but he was a key piece to it. I also do not think Pittsburgh would be as victorious as they were during the regular season. Yes, Lemieux was a good player, but Jagr reached his pinnacle when Lemieux was not playing and was in "retirement" (1997-2000).

So, what do you think for your favourite player?

  1. If Jonathan Cheechoo did not exist, Thornton wouldn't've gotten the Hart Trophy and Cheecoo wouldn't've gotten the Rocket Richard Trophy.

  2. If Mario Lemieux never existed. ..The Penguins would not only be in Kansas City or Las Vegas right now, but ... they would never have tasted victory from the Stanley Cup... TWICE...

Without Lemieux, there would be dozens of NHL players with a flattened stat sheet ('cause of Lemieux's play-making abilities.)

Without Lemieux, Gretzky would be lonely a-top all of the record books.

Without Lemieux, Sidney Crosby would be homeless.  :)

  3. Haha, Crosby also wouldn't have a Lemieux babysitting job either.

My favorite player is Brian Gionta.  The Devils would definitely be lacking in offense without him.  He is replaceable, but with cap issues the Devils were lucky to get him scoring 48 goals in 2006 on a measly $1 million salary.  Without Gionta the Devils would have to shop for a pricier forward with the same skill.  Plus Gionta is a hard worker, so he motivates his teammates.  The Devils would be worse without him.  Also, if he were not on the team, no Devil would've broken Pat Verbeek's goal record of 46.  Gionta had 48.

  4. then the caps would be in the bottom of the nhl and going nowhere fast.  it would be a huge impact cause without ovie all the caps have is semin and green, it would really hurt the nhl too, a lot of people watch hockey just to see ovie play at least i know people who do

  5. If Mats Sundin didnt exist god knows what would happen to the leafs! wow i can just imagine them now! they would be worst than ever! so i guess mats Sundin does have a great impact on the maple leafs and if he left right now it would be really bad for the leafs. but i dont think much would change for the NHL!

  6. Without Bobby Clarke (the player) the Flyers would have never won two Stanley Cups. Without Bobby Clarke (the GM) the Flyers would have never gotten beatdowns like they did in 06-07.

  7. If Steve Yzerman never existed, Detroit would still be like they were in the 80's. I think Yzerman really showed how Hockey does have a lot of sportsmanship, without him, Hockey would not be as fun to watch.

  8. My favorite it Jussi Jokinen... he isn't that big of a deal in the NHL but I've loved him since he started; your favorite player doesn't only have to be a veteran or a captain. If he hadn't been on the Stars the OT/SO percentage would have dropped drastically: he holds the best SO percentage among all players in the league and he managed to establish a great name for himself his rookie year of playing. While it wouldn't put a drastic dent in the Dallas post-season outcome, he certainly managed to have a talent that was widely noticed and noted.

  9. eric lindros would still be playing, devils probably would not have any cups, 2nd player- flames moght not have a cup

  10. then my favorite player would be brent burns....ha no..

the team would really suffer without Brian Rolston he contributed over at least 30 goals year year for the last 3 years since he has been with the wild. I don't think they would have made it to the playoffs the last two years without him....
