I had a root canal a few months ago, and this morning a bit of the filling fell out, it doesnt look like the whole filling did because i can not see any of the gums, but I am really nervous. Can you have any pain if you had a root canal?

  1. You can have pain if you have fractured the tooth. This happened to me. However, if the filling fell out, you probably won't experience any pain. At least not immediately. You do need to see a dentist as soon as possible though, because that shouldn't be happening. To be quite honest, it doesn't sound good. You didn't mention if the tooth had a crown. If it doesn't have one, then you need one fast. Good luck.

  2. you can have pain. the nerves are no longer there from the root canal but you will still have feeling - hence part of the reason why they gave you that filling. i wouldnt stress about it and just go to the dentist on monday

  3. You won't feel any pain unless the chip reaches your gum... just like a cavity normally will not hurt until the hole reaches your gums - as mine does right now... I had a friend who chipped part of her real tooth while she was asleep and it did not hurt her.  Had it been the whole tooth it would have hurt a lot more.
