  1. Your saddle is made to fit you and has adjustments on it for the horse.  You probably would need a size 14"-15" seat.  I ride a 15" seat barrel saddle.  It all depends on what you use your horse for and what breed he is too.

  2. All you need to make sure is that the saddle fits on the horse, and your comphy on it.

  3. The height doesn't matter for saddle size..

There's a lot of other things that need to be taken into account.. gullet size, riders size etc etc..

Best bet is to arrange for a saddle fitter to come out for you and your horse.. Enquire about one where you plan to purchase your saddle.. That way you know it fits properly and won't hurt your pony =]

  4. learn to spell it before you ride it...

  5. dpends on how wide the horse is.

  6. i know its a pain but you really need to get a saddle professionally fitted if you don't it may hurt you or worse your horse!

  7. Well the saddle is not based on your horse but is based on you. i have seen a girl with a size 12 on a tall/little fat horse.

This also depends on English or western because at my lessons i use 14 Western and 16 English.

  8. depends on your butt leg and the horses back, not height

if the horse is super wide, go wih a wide gullet or quarter horse bars

if is has high withers get a semi quarter horse bars

or a narrow, if its narrow built

and if its just normal get a regular gullet

but when you go to buy the saddle make sure they have a trial period o you can make sure it fits before you pay for it

  9. since it's a smaller horse you should try getting a lighter saddle, but other than that it all depends on the rider :)

  10. The saddle size is based on what you need.  You need to make sure the saddle fits and that will depend on the shape of your horse's back.

Most horses (the vast majority) take a semi quarter horse bars.  But that is not always the case.

  11. It depends on a few things really like how wide he is (gullet size), conformation of his back like does he have low/high withers and how long his back is, you dont want it to long in length as it will sit to far back on his loins and cause him to buck. I would recommend getting advice from a saddle fitter. I personally have a treeless saddle, they are so comfortable to ride in you sit in a natural position it's like riding bareback but you have the added security of stirrups and you sit  deeper in the saddle and feel more connected with your horse. As the saddle doesnt have a tree it's more comfortable for the horse and frees up his shoulders and you don't need to worry if your horse gains or looses weight as it's not rigid like a normal saddle.

  12. The fit of the horse is your first priority. If the horse isn't happy you won't be happy either. An ill fitting saddle can damage your horses nerves in it's shoulders and back.

Have someone you know, like a 4-H leader or an instructor, look at your horse and see what kind of back and withers it has. You can also take a piece of wire and shape it to your horses withers and take it with you when you go saddle shopping.

As for you, you can always sit in the saddle at the store and try it out. If your just a wisp of a girl you would probaly do fine with a 14-15" western saddle.

I hope this has helped. Good luck in finding the perfect saddle for you and your horse :)

  13. A saddle that fits you. I use my saddle on all kinds  and sizes of horses. Some time I had to shorten or leangthen the off side billet. But most of the time I could get by with readjusting the girth strap.
