is there more of a chance of being struck by lightning by using something electrical like a walky-talky or a cell phone, gameboy, etc. than to be when nothings on you?

(i know you can be strucked in an open field but i mean if your just walking on sidewalk with trees and house.)

  1. I doubt it. Radio signals, and the reception thereof, doesn't increase your chances of being 'hit'. Being exposed in the open, or near a tall object like a tree would increase your chances. Turning off T.V.s and computers when indoors protects the equipment, and never use a land-line telephone during an electrical storm. It should be fairly safe to use indoor plumbing, though.

  2. they say it is likely u can bed struck due to the radio frequency wave transmitted by radio type devices

  3. No. Lightning always hits the tallest object, which would be a tree or house.

  4. What's "bed struck"?

I have heard it seems to hit more people using phones and the like. I have never heard if it has been proved.
