Question:

If your last name was Clayton, would you name your daughter Payton?

I have always loved the name peyton or payton for a girl. I am pregnant with a lil girl due in Nov. But there is one problem! Her last name will be Clayton. I am so sad because I can't use it but my husband thinks we still should. He says it isn't that bad. I think it sounds silly.

Would you use it? If so, what middle names could help it flow better. Thanks.

  1. Never in a million years would I name my child that.  Sorry. =(

  2. If you love it that much then maybe make it a middle name?

  3. I agree with the others, she will be teased in school. But what child isn't teased in school, right?

If that's what you want to name your child, go for it. It's a pretty name, just  rhymes with the last name :)

  4. That really sucks. I don't think I would use it, she might get teased in school. I love that name too :D

    Congrads!

  5. here's an idea: if you REALLY want to go with Payton and not have the poor girl's name sound silly think about hyphenating her last name, your maiden name (whatever that might be) hyphen Clayton. That way people will have to pronounce her last name with your maiden name first and break the 2 syllable rhyming names.

But honestly, don't name her Payton, sometimes you just have to know when to say when. Think of her more so than yourself, she will hate growing up with a funny sounding name, why put the poor child through that? You will open the door to endless ridicule in school and kids are soo cruel.

Example of when to think of your child over what you like: my last name is Jackson and I looooooooooooove Jackson for a boy's 1st name, still yet none of my kids are named Jackson Jackson :)

  6. I would not use it. A middle name will not help much, no one calls people by their FULL name.

  7. I agree, it sounds silly. =]

    What about:

    Paige

    Leighton

    Pamela

    Piper

.. I don't know.. Just trying to help out!

  8. peanut man or banna man or vinger man

  9. It does sound silly, it will mean endless teasing. Sorry, but unless you give a different last name, you really shouldn't use it. And I also like Payton as a name for a girl.

  10. The name is beautiful. But I wouldn't give a child a rhyming name. It's a little embarrassing. I knew a guy in high school and his name was Jensen Hinsen. It was terrible. I would find something similar to Payton, such as Paige, and go with that. I'm really sorry you can't use that name, it's so beautiful... I know how you feel though... I have always loved the name Gemma but I want to name my daughter after my sister Jennifer. Gemma Jennifer Martin... haha, I don't think so!

    Good luck!

  11. Payton Clayton, no, I don't think so

  12. i would name her Sacagawea

  13. Are you serious? I'm sorry, Payton is cute. Just not with Clayton

    lol payton clayton

any rhyming names are bad e.g. David Bowie's kid Zowie Bowie and Mark Bolan's son Rolan Bolan

i knew someone called Kane Maine and he got bullied

  17. why not?

Payton Dikinson Clayton :what about this one?

  18. If I was Mrs. Clayton, no

There many more beautiful names to choose from.  You never know, she may come out and look nothing like a "Payton"...

  19. i say name her whatever you like and whatever you think she will like in the future.
