Alwin gave me a great answer on my other question.

I assume then that ICE would be the fastest but more expensive of the trains within Germany?

  1. Answering your question again Yes ICE would be the fastest way by train and more expensive depending on first or second class,

how many times will you use a train while there? You may want to look into rail passes as well and compare ticket prices from bahn.de and the rail passes if you plan to use them a lot. Email me and I will send you the URL for the rail passes from my profile.

Enjoy I though I would send it to you in this account seeing you emailed me here.

Glad I was helpful with the rail pas information.

  2. It's me again.

Yes, the ICE Frankfurt - Munich is the fastest and most convenient way to get to Bavaria. 3 to 3 1/2 hours, 85 euros. (Slow trains: 5 1/2 hrs, approx. 50 euros)

That's 2nd class. I think that's comfortable enough; it's not really worth it to take 1st class on trains unless you're on a business trip and have some office work to do.
