Let's say, that you were in a life or death situation, you need one that was reliable. One that wouldnt jam on you. One that you could throw in muddy sea water, take it out and it would keep working .

One that you would trust your life with, and take everywhere with you, just in case.

Price, would be no object, because remember, you can't put a price on your life. So, if you could only have one handgun to trust your life with, which would you choose and why?

  1. GLOCK

  2. Nice question with a very simple answer: Glock 21C

Knock on wood but I have never had a jam in my Glock 21C. The "C" means the pistol has two compensators milled into the slide and barrel. Upon firing the gasses divert up and are supposed to dampen muzzle climb. And they do pretty much.

45 ACP well 45ACP says it all right there.

Tough Tactical Tupperware. They are so easy to work on but I have never had to repair one.

  3. Since absolute reliability seems to be your primary criteria, I'd stick with my S&W M60 .357 Magnum, with the 3" barrel and laser grips. Of the several handguns I own, it will always be my "go-to" gun in a crisis situation.

  4. I would go with a revolver such as a Smith & Wesson model 19 or 66 in .357 Magnum.  Better yet, I would go with a S&W model 29!

  5. I think a HK usp in a 40 or 45 and if you plan to carry it get the compact version. Get some good ammo as well because your ammo is just as important as your gun.

Glocks are good too but get the HK (in a world of compramise DON'T)

  6. S&W 29 or a Glock,what about that guy that said a gold desert eagle,I hope he wasn't serious,I don't think I ever seen a desert eagle that didn't jam.

  7. Glock 19 with night sights and loaded 147 grain Winchester Ranger T's.

I carry this gun everyday and trust my life with it.

  8. H&K P7 Cant' believe no one said that yet!!!!! SUPER reliable, but it would have to be in .40 S&W. Forgot to mention that it's the safest to carry w/ one in the pipe. And fastest to go from hammer down to ready.

  9. my .357 snub nose revolver.

  10. For more than a dozen years I trusted my life to a first generation Glock Model 20 10mm.  I would never throw any gun into muddy sea water but my 10mm stayed with me rain or shine in hot, humid conditions that would rust any other gun if one didn't take at least minimal care.  This gun never malfunctioned and during this time I only replaced the magazines (to be re-sprung) once.  Mine has Trijicon Night Sights and a dozen hi cap mags.  I also own a Glock Model 31 .357 Sig (with hi cap mags n Mepro Light Night Sights) and a Glock Model 26 (9mm).  These are go anywhere come h**l-or-high-water ultra dependable defensive handguns.  I also own a number of wheel-guns (.38s & .357 Magnums) and other semi-autos including the FN Hestal 5.7mm but if I could only take one with me it would be the 10mm.  Why?  1. It is good protection against man or beast.  2. If need be it can be called into service as a hunter to take up to deer-size game.  3. In an inside-the-waistband holster it conceals well on my bulky frame under a loose T-shirt.  4. It is not as heavy as either one of my Colt Pythons and it holds more ammo plus it has night sights.  5. It is not finicky about ammo and just goes 'bang' everytime you pull the trigger.  6. It is more forgiving of not being kept fastiduously clean and lubed than other auto-loaders.  7. It is as accurate as the shooter.  8. It is more powerful at a hundred yards than the .45 acp is at the muzzle.  9. It holds more ammo in a single magazine than two wheelguns and it reloads quicker.

This Glock Model 20 10mm would be my first choice in the scenario you have described.

    H

  11. my glock 21 /.45 with hollowpoints.." when you have to kill everymotherfreaker in the room!!!!" trust in glock haha.

  12. Glock. Shot them for years with no malfunctions. Simple, reliable, fast.

  13. custom made gold desert eagle.

  14. remember, NO gun is 100% reliable. All guns are susceptible to malfunction. Some, however, are better than others. Glock seems to be the number one choice for many. I don't own one but have shot them before and didn't really like the way they feel. The question comes down to personal preference. I would trust my life to my Berretta 92fs .40 cal. It is small, light weight, accurate, has high capacity in standard magazine, and has never jammed or malfunctioned when shooting. Don't know if it would work in muddy sea water but I don't live in an area like that so it is no concern. The Glock, however, I have seen videos on youtube of it firing underwater, So that may be the one thing it has over the Berretta. But, for home defense, I would grab my Mossberg 500 Tactical over any pistol. Outside the home, I would take the 92fs.

  15. Sig P229 or a P226 (Same gun, 229's smaller though).  I don't know how long any gun is going to stand up to muddy sea water though.

  16. One answer:

Stainless Steel Ruger GP-100 .357 Magnum

    Nuff Said.

  17. Colt Series 70 MK IV Government Model, 45 ACP.

  18. I'm really not the kind of fellow to trust just one gun, especially one handgun.

If I'm going into places where my good sense tells me I really should not visit, I will have at least two revolvers on me.  A 4" S&W M-686 .357 Magnum, and a 2 1/8" S&W M-640, also a .357 Magnum, for backup.  Both would be loaded with Federal Premium 125 gr. JHP's.  If in civilian dress, I'd have there or four Bianchi Speed Strips in pocket or sporran for reloads.  Hopefully that would be enough to get me back to the rifle in my truck, which happens to be a Rossi M-92 SRC, also in .357 Magnum.

Now if I'm going into a place where I know there is a good probability of gunplay, in addition to the two Smiths already mentioned, I'd have an S&W M-49 Bodyguard in .38 Spl in one pocket, a 4.75" Uberti SAA in .44 S&W SPL on my left hip, a Colt Officers' ACP in .45 ACP in my back pocket and a well armed friend to cover my back.  And in addition to the other hardware, there'd be a couple of sharp and pointy items about my person.

I am not a cop or a soldier, so I have no compunction to stand my ground if retreat is possible.  Besides, handguns are intended to keep you alive long enough to get to your rifle.

    Doc

  19. The tried, true tested, and proven to be the best one for self-defense purposes, and a no nonsense man stopper, the 357 Magnum in S&W with a 4 or 6 inch barrel, target trigger & hammer loaded with 125 grain jacketed hollow points.* Model 66 in 357 Magnum.*

  20. GLOCK.

  21. a slingshot.

  22. it sounds like your scenario requires a "glock"answer.

I would choose a  6" stainless s&w 686 in 357 mag. this proven design and caliber would be my first choice as a life or death situation gun. jamming on a revolver of this type is rare to non existant, accurate range is 50-75 yds (my personal experience) with the probability of 100 yd hits.

and no one would argue with the lethality of the 357 mag round.

i realize that in todays terms, most would choose a semi auto, but if i have to trust my life to just one gun, i want one of the best proven designs on the planet, and the revolver in 357 mag has always been one of the best.

  23. It would be a toss up, depending on the scenario, urban survival or Git-Kit.

Urban: Kimber tactical, Kimbers are nice combat weapons, and parts are easily available if needed, (Standard 1911 parts will fit)

Git-Kit: Ruger Super Blackhawk, The RSB would be good for hunting as well as defense, and single actions have fewer parts to break.

  24. Whatever pistol I was comfortable with and practiced with... ideally, the one I carry CCW on a regular basis.

Personally - The Springfield Armory XD (9mm, night sights, etc) Nice, well made. Safety mechanisms that keep it from going off unless you hold it and pull the trigger... and if you pull the trigger, it goes off.

  25. easy, My Springfield XD .45 ACP.
