If your mother filed for you to become a legal citizen how long does it take?

My friend is an illegal immigrant and her mom has filed for her, she is 21 years of age and is in love with this American citizen she wants to marry him. Will this mess up her chances of getting her papers?

  1. her mom will get one in about 2 years your friend never intill marryed with someine from here cause shes over 18 and she could go back


  2. It COULD take up to 3 years.

  3. The mother can't file for the daughter as she is of adult age, but if she's in the United States now and wants to marry an American citizen, then that's probably her best option.

    Once she marries him, she can get started on docs that'll help her obtain her Permanent Resident card ("green card").  After that, I think you have to wait like three years before you can start your papers to become a United States citizen.

  4. Your friend will not get a valid visa while she is in the US illegally. Her mother will not be able to apply for her since your friend is 21

    Your friend will need to return to her home country and apply on her own.
