If your over 18 & from america how do you go about getting a drivers license in england?

do you have to go through classes or...?

I would think if your coming just for a holiday/short stay then you could use your American licence bring it with you as proof.

If your coming to live in the UK i would think you would have to apply for the standard UK driving test, ie theory test and practical test.

If you have American driving experience/car handling then a British driving school could help you brush up your skills for the practical test.
