If your period was late, will you ovulate late?

I am always very regular on my periods. Last month, for some reason, I was exactly one week late. Will that mean I am going to ovulate a week late this month or will I still ovulate on my regular day I was supposed to if my period hadn't started late? TTC

  1. Your period could have been late because you ovulated late last cycle.  This cycle you could be back to normal.  The only way to know for sure is to use opk's for before ovulation and chart your BBT to confirm ovulation.  Otherwise the best guess you can get is a 5 day window.  If you normally ovulate around cd14, then count 14 days from the first day of this period, and there is your new cycle.  Hope I didn't confuse you!!

  2. It doesn't matter how later you are.  You're first day of AF is always cycle day one.  So if you ovulate on cycle day 14 normally, then expect it to still be 14 days from the day you started af.

  3. Maybe... sorry

You will still ovulate around 14 days before the start of you next period, but it depends if your cycle goes back to normal this month. You will probably need to use some kind of fertility test this month (e.g. ovulation sticks have a look at http://www.fertilitysticks.com).

Work out when you would have your period if your cycle goes back to normal. Count back 14 days and then start testing 3 days before that.

    Good luck!
