I recently got the verizon env2 phone and it has a travel mode (it's called Standalone Mode) that you can put on your phone so that you can use all the features (except calling, texting, and Blue Tooth) while on an airplane. The travel mode does not interfere with the electronic equipment in the airplane, so that's why it is allowed.

I am going to England and France this summer, and I was wondering if I still had to turn my phone off before the plane takes off, if my phone is in the travel mode.

  1. Some airlines will ask you to turn off all electronic devices whether you're in travel or flight mode or not, others may allow you to keep your phone on in travel mode. If you're not sure, just turn your phone off, it can't be that hard to turn your phone back on in travel mode once they announce it's ok to use your electronics.

  2. yeah my moto Q does that, well everyphone has that most likley unless its an old phone.

It should be ok, just dont get on the internet until they say you can, (you would have to be at a certain altitude before they let you even though ur phone says it is safe, doesnt mean they know it is safe)

Just dont turn on the actual phone part until you are fully landed.

  3. in Europe they are supposed to be allowing the use of cell phones in the air and besides modern digital cell phones won't interfere with anything on the plane.  The old crappy analogue systems could cause interferance with cockpit  to ground communications

  4. Yes, you will need to turn your phone itself off until you reach cruising altitude to comply with cabin crew instructions. After that, you can have it on with Standalone Mode on. Turn it back off before landing, and then you can use it fully once you arrive at the airport.

  5. Sounds like your very description says that you can. I would say that's why it's called "travel mode".

  6. Probabaly you don't have to turn it off.  Sounds cool. Good Luck

  7. I think u won't beacuse the electronic create the electro-magnatic wave when they are on, these wave interfere the equipments in the plane.
