  1. If you're Scottish then You're Scottish, Irish is certainly not the same.

In Northern Ireland and the province of Ulster in general the English brought over Scottish Protestants as part of the Ulster Plantation, However that was a long long time ago and in general if your Irish you're Irish and if you're Scottish you're Scottish. It would be like saying that American and Canadian are the same.

  2. It is not the same, any more than Spanish and Portuguese or French and Italians are the same.  The country of Scotland was founded by Irish colonists more than a thousand years ago, but that doesn't make the Scots Irish any more than  Americans are British or Ivorians are French.  They are related but different.

  3. No.  Scotland and Ireland are two different countries.  That's like saying, "if I'm French am I German as well?"  No, obviously.

  4. People often do get Scottish and Irish mixed up. Im from N.Ire and some words that we both say are similar. But you defo arent Irish unless you have ancestors!

  5. They are two different countries...

So no you can't be both unless you have descendants from Ireland

  6. uhh there is a part of ireland [the north part] that has some scottish population in it.. if you come from there you could be both. but otherwise you're scottish if you're from scotland and you're irish if you're from ireland. but those 'people' might be saying or referring to the fact that you're from outside 'england', which both irish and scottish people are... or maybe you have physical traits that combine irish traits and scottish traits, then maybe ask your parents if you have both blood in the family?

    bleh hope that helps =)

  7. No. Its not the same.  The scots are our neighbours... and are pretty cool. (They look hot in their kilts).

But if you want to be Irish, then we are open to new applications.

  8. 'People' are wrong ... these are two different countries.

It's like saying 'ah sure the Canadians and Americans are the same ....' - so not true.

'People' should have a bit more cop on.

  9. I was born in scotland but my mother and grandparents all irish alot of irish settled in scotland to make money before they headed to usa but some didnt make it like my family but I live in usa now but still have my accent and very proud of my scottish and irish heritage.  Cead Mile Failte = "A hundred thousand welcomes"

  10. NO

scotland is still part of the U.K

    ireland is a separate country

  11. no your Scottish your a Scotchman unless your from northern Ireland and of scottish desent

  12. People are ignorant to the fact that Ireland and Scotland are two completely different countries.
