  1. welcome to 2006 folks.

    - if the service ball hits the net and lands over on the opponents side, it is legal (let ball), and you continue serving/point.

    - if the service ball hits the net and doesn't cross over to the opponent side, it is no good, and the other team gets the serve/point.

For over 10 years now, this rule has been in effect in pro-ball.  Just like the changes to the scoring to rally points vs service points.  It was intended to make the game faster, and more entertaining to those who are watching (EG making it a spectator sport)  Currently it is both indoor and beach volleyball, and applies from international all the way down to recreational.

  2. if it goes over the net it is.

if it comes back to your side it isnt

  3. No.  You get one more try and then it's the other team's ball.

  4. I used to play alot of volleyball throughout my lifetime, i even played in a minor league beach volleyball league when I lived in Cali. and it was always illegal but after reading most of the answers to this question i am surprised to see that the rule has changed. Is this a global change or just at the high school and collegiate level?

  5. it used to call for a side out, but now it's legal and has to be played

  6. yes.. only if it goes over!!

  7. if it touched the net, and then went to the other team's side, then it counts. but if not, then it goes to the other team

  12. if it hits the net and does not go over it is the other teams serve  but if it hits the net and DOES go over then its in play and get ready it may or may not come back you want it to hit the net then go over BC the players on the other team are unlikely to get it so rock on Setter you set that ball wit all yo heart

  13. It is now. However, when I played volleyball in Jr. High (several years ago) it wasn't legal.  And, you could play the ball off of your teammates head...lol.

  14. It depends on the rules set up in your league.  I think it is legal in most leagues, but not in others.  This is one of the rules you should look for when playing on a different team or playing at different tordements
