If your tested positive for group b then will you be induced ?

My due date is 9/11 but he wants to induce early. Around the 7th of Sept. Is this normal procedure. I am positive for group b

I also tested positive for Group B.  My doctor explained to me that that just means I'll have to receive an antibiotic in my IV when I go into labor.  Group B isn't a reason to induce you.  I wish you the best of luck and congratulations!

No you will not be induced for this reason only. I also had that with my third child. When your in labor they will give you meds thru your iv for the baby. group b won't harm you but could harm the baby during delivery if they don't get the meds. That might be why he wants to induce you to make sure you have the meds and they have plenty of time to give it to you.

no it's not normal. there is no reason to induce just because you tested positive for group b, inducing you will not change that! they will give you antibiotics to kill the infection and that's all they have to do.

No, normally they don't induce for testing positive for group B strep.

45 minutes of waters being broken won't harm your baby, if you have group B strep

- I had this discussion with my OB on the chance that I might also test positive for group B strep, and I'm also quite a drive from the nearest hospital.

All group B strep needs is an IV full of antibiotics whilst you are in labor, that's it.

So, he must be inducing for another reason? Or maybe he is being extra cautious?

It depends on your doc. It is likely you will be induced because if you are given the antibiotics too late, your baby won't be protected. They need to know exactly when you go into labor and about how long before they should put the meds in your drip.

no, its not a routine cause for induction. It sound like your doctor wants to plan your delivery around his schedule. Guess he must have an important golf game on the 11th that he does not want to miss.

Im due tomorrow. And I tested positive for it too. My doctor isnt inducing me.
