  1. Yes.. Boot camp is what makes you a Marine.  Marine Officers have to go through more stuff.

  2. More so.

  3. Yup - you still go through OCS which is more leadership orientated then regular boot camp... but its still boot camp.

  4. Well, depends how you look at it...

Officers go through OCS (which is a variant as basic training for enlisted), but then they have to endure 6-months of TBS, The Basic School.  I heard from many Lieutenants that it was very hard.  I am a Sergeant, so that means I am no college graduate that has no idea of OCS nor TBS, but I am a grunt that went through the ITB at the SOI, which was exclamatory enough!  I only wish there was Marine Officers that would conclude their portion of stories onto this site!.  Unfortunately, they don't insist of bragging and boasting experiences of the Marine Corps like us Enlisted folk does here on this Yahoo! Answers.  Geez, I'm brain-washed!  Wait..can I use that as a question, does that achieve me extra points towards Level 4?

NOTE: The 'candidates'  (which is the the same Marine jargon as 'recruit' for the Enlisted) will also attend TBS [The Basic School] in Quantico.  Now, from what I understand that this is a lot more demanding than what we 'enlisted' have to go through.  Enlisted Boot Camp [Enlisted] is more 'mental', whereas, OCS and TBS is extremely more 'physical' than mental!  TBS is what separates us from the rest of the Armed Forces; no other branch has this type of training to create Officers.  Only the Marine Corp, right?  Oorah!

EXTRA:  I 'thumbed-down" Timothy, even though he is my 'squid' that I depend on in combat, he is after all a so-called Marine too, although he is a Navy squid!  He didn't quite touch base on your question.  I hold him accoutable for his actions since it is up to 'us' Marines to put him in check!  I understand his appeasal but since I outrank him as years of service (regardless of rank).  I deemed him as a inpeasible format of information....sorry squidy [Timothy]!

  5. Physically and mentally, it is harder. I was a Communications Instructor at Quantico for OCS. Besides being physically stressed out with all they were required to do, they also had to learn many other jobs. Before I was stationed there, I had little respect for these "college boys". After seeing what they went through, I had a much greater respect for them.

  6. If that's your attitude, I don't think your going to make a good marine. Officer or not.

doesn't make sense rekon, you're letting him talk **** about you and the stuff you had to go through. If he wants to be a marine officer I may one day have to work for and if need be save his life...he needs to man up and not care about what he has to go through to earn our respect and followership.

  7. You mean enlisted Marine and not regular..

Officers go through their own "boot camp"..Its tougher and focuses more on leadership skills as this will be there job..

There is less yelling and mind games but the education level is alot higher..

To lead Marines you must be top notch, so you will get some fine training.
