unless there are children involved, its best to cut all ties with a person who left u. also depends why they left, if your working on restoring the marriage u would stay in touch, but if its going to be a divorce, its best to have no contact.

You call for the kids; you call to inquire about them and their well being.  You do it for the kids - always keep them in FIRST place.  If there are no kids, no real need to keep that door open.  Probably only get your finger slammed in it.
