Ignition Problem with my 03 Aztek?

Question

When I turn the key to start the car, it keeps cranking even after I let go. Sometimes this last for a few seconds, but it always starts. I don't know if this is a fuel delivery problem, or the ignition. From my experience, it doesn't take long for a starter to go out. If it dies, it dies. It doesn't drag on for months. This has been happening for 8 months. I'm just wondering if I'm hurting it by not fixing it. It's a 3400 Pontiac 2WD.
