Igor Jenny overpowers Yu Sheng Lim in Men’s Singles first round at Malaysia Open GP Gold
Switzerland’s talented player Igor Jenny put on superb show of his elevated class when he overpowered Yu Sheng Lim of Malaysia in Men’s Singles first round at Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on Wednesday, May 2.
The un-seeded Igor showed his wonderful skills and remained successful in beating Yu Sheng in a remarkable fight that took three games of thrilling badminton.
In the opening game, Igor did not take much time in dominating the pace of rallies and remained ahead of his local rival in the opening half.
Until the one-minute break, Igor managed a reasonable lead over his rival by reaching at 11-8.
After the break, the Malaysian geared up his speed and remained successful in ending the deficit. However, he failed to take lead as his Swiss opponent was also playing positive badminton.
In the ending points of first game, Igor showed his brilliance and managed to win the game with a 21-19 margin on the board.
In the second set, Igor again remained in control as he did not let Yu Sheng to control the pace of rallies at any stage and established an 11-9 lead on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Yu Sheng changed his tactics and levelled the score without facing much resistance from his rival.
Igor could not maintain his dominating position as he committed many unforced errors in the court. He failed to dictate the pace anymore and eventually lost the second game with a huge difference of 13-21.
In the deciding set, Igor was everywhere as he took the bird quite early and made his rival work hard for every single point.
The Swiss shuttler remained in complete control of rallies and too an impressive lead until the mid-game interval by reaching at 11-6.
After the break, Yu Sheng tried to dominate the game at net but failed to take any advantage as Igor was quicker and positive in the court.
The Swiss played with precision and did not face any problem in taking the final game with a spectacular margin of 21-9.
Igor won this opening-round clash in rubber games with an interesting 21-19, 13-21 and 21-9 score on the board.
