Igor Pokrajac thinks about hanging his gloves for good – UFC News
The 34-year-old Polish-Canadian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter, Krzysztof Soszynski, has been a professional fighter since September 2003.
For the past nine years, he has been hitting and throwing punches with a single aim, to become the best in the combat sport. Recently, after losing to Croatian Igor Pokrajac at UFC 140 in December 2011, Soszynski hinted at leaving the MMA for good.
Soon after Soszynski lost the fight to Pokrajac, rumours spread in the MMA and UFC community that he will call it a day. According to CEO of UFC, Dana White, Soszynski contested in his very last UFC fight and will make his exit from the profession. The way
Soszynski lost the fight at UFC 140 is also shocking. He was knocked out by the Croatian in the 35th second giving Pokrajac one of the biggest wins of his career.
After his embarrassing loss, the doctors had a thorough examination of his physical condition. Pokrajac did some damage to the Canadian MMA fighter but his career also had a burden on his health. Soszynski has fought in a total of thirty-nine fights in his
career with twenty-six wins, twelve losses and a single draw. He has lost via knockouts and submissions and has won with both techniques.
Over the course of his career, his physical condition was maintained but a fighter cannot bear the pressure all his life. Although White has stated that Soszynski will be retiring, it is also heard from reports that the Canadian fighter has not yet confirmed
his retirement. He is thinking about it but he will do whatever his doctors advice him, because for him health comes first.
Soszynski has gone through operation multiple times where his knee has been the target. He has been having problem with his knee for quite some time and that is why he is consulting his doctors regarding his future inside the fighting cage. While talking
to the media while talking about his knee, Soszynski said that, “The truth of the matter is that everybody knows I’ve been having some knee problems. I’ve been having knee problems since UFC 110 - the first fight with Stephan Bonnar. Ever since then, my knees
just haven’t been the same.”
The mixed reports about Soszynski’s retirement have been in the news for quite a while. The entire UFC community and fans await his decision. It is true that Soszynski will certainly be thinking of hanging his gloves but no one knows when he will really
bit farewell to his profession.
