Igor Rossello says injured Renault driver Robert Kubica can race in 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Igor Rossello, who is the surgeon of Renault’s injured driver Robert Kubica, has said that Kubica can drive a Formula 1 car for the 2012 Formula 1 season, if the team wants to confirm him in their drivers’ line-up in November 2011.
The Polish driver’s surgeon added that Kubica has now fully recovered from his injuries and already driving a road car. He also mentioned that they can now think about getting him back as soon as possible into a F1 car.
Rossello said, “We still have to do a small intervention for improving the mobility of his wrist, as with this type of accident the hand is never as flexible as it was before. Then it will take a lot of exercise. But he will be able to drive his formula
one car again and press all the buttons.”
He added, “I look at him and I can't stop wondering how well it has all gone; all the breaks and the wounds have healed, the only question is whether he will drive as he did before. He will have some limitations; remember that we considered amputation. But
that will be assessed by the (F1) specialists.”
Kubica’s surgeon further added that they have done their job perfectly and that now they can hope Kubica will be back in the sport very soon.
He told the media that the 26-year-old driver has recovered from all of his injuries that he sustained in the rally race back in February. Rossello also commented that he can now move and lift with all of his fingers.
Apart from that, he stated that Kubica’s recovery from serious injuries is a miracle but still the unknown thing is whether he will be able to drive as fast as used to before.
On the other hand, the Enstone-based outfit is struggling during the races for their best possible ending in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Lotus-Renault are at the fifth place behind Mercedes GP with 72 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship at the moment.
Let’s see how the team performs in the 17th round of the ongoing season at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit in India on October 30.
