Igor Sijsling cripples Ariez Elyaas Deen Heshaam in round one – Proton Malaysian Open 2012
Dutch contender, Igor Sijsling, devastated the local wild card entrant, Ariez Elyaas Deen Heshaam, with a breadstick at the Proton Malaysian Open 2012 on Monday. He jolted down a 6-2, 6-1 victory against the world number 1557 to power into the second round
at this indoor hard court event held in Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Amsterdam native unleashed his class after entering this ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour 250 series event taking place from 22nd to 30th September. He needed just 50 minutes to steal the show in his first encounter
against the 18-year-old and cruise into the round of 16.
Sijsling high-spiritedly entered the Putra Indoor Stadium. He drew the first blood in the third game and took a 2-1 lead. Despite losing his edge in the very next game, the Dutch went on a four-game rampage and clicked the opener with a 6-2 win. He failed
to block the lone breakpoint he came across but cashed in all three break chances to inch towards the fame.
Ranked 97th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Sijsling went out of control in the following set. Through exceptional forehands from his box of tricks, the Dutch winded up the opening four games. After Deen Heshaam got on the
score sheet in the fifth game, the Dutch pocketed the last two games and clinched the set with a breadstick. He quickly bagged his entire serves without facing any trouble and converted three out of five break chances to his advantage.
On the whole, the 25-year-old registered impressive stats. He produced an equal number of first serve share of 56 per cent and superbly marked 14 out of 20 points on it. The Dutch also hammered three aces and finished the match with 54 points.
Next challenge for Sijsling is the winner of the match between fifth seeded Feliciano Lopez from Spain and the Slovakian challenger, Lukas Lacko.
The Taiwanese wild card entrant, Jimmy Wang, will accompany Sijsling in the pre-quarters. He stomped over the Italian qualifier, Riccardo Ghedin, in straight sets to progress at this event.
