Ihave a 9.9 yamaha 4 stroke outboard long shaft motor is it possible to change it to a short shaft or worth it

just wondering how difficult and expensive it would be to perform this operation ,or should i sell it and buy a short shaft

  1. The replacement short shaft  is too expensive. Of course the labour is extra.

    Why dont you raise the transom a couple of inches. You can do that by securing a strip of wood to the existing transom than mount the engine.

  2. All you need to do is replace the drive shaft and water tube.

  3. No, don't change it the cost isn't worth it.

    I saw the best answer, raise the transom. For a small engine like a 9.9 it won't be too difficult, even if the engine is a kicker.
