I have a2 year green card holder my card is expire on sept 2008 but i have to go india for an emergncy in augst 2008 for 5 month wt can i do .

Well, if you leave the country with a green card that will expire while you are gone, you will  have a problem getting  back in. So...you need to contact the proper office now and see if you can go ahead and get it renewed now.  See the site below and scroll down to the paragraph titled "What IF I Am Outsidethe United States?"  Since renewal can take several months, you should apply immediately.

Things are very tight in immigration ,since this is not Ur regular green card I will suggest u to first take care of Ur legal card then travel to India. Once there is any complication it will take long time to correct it. go to Ur nearest immigration office and talk to the immigration officer and get  things straighten up ur self dont go to agents for this matter. Immigration officers are very helpful.Again dont leave before u get ur proper documents.
