Ii know that alot of last names were based on your ansesters job- ?

so i cant see where my last name- pannell came from- it originated in either england, italy, ireland, or some other contry

  1. The spelling of names have changed say from the 1600's until the 1800's.  Your ancestors might have spelled their name pannel, panel or panell or even pane or parnell.  Names were also given as to where you lived, or what was around where you lived.  Like if berries grew on a hill close by. Your name might be berri, berry, hill, berrihill or berryhill.

    If you were a carpenter, your last name could be carpenter, wood, build, builder, mill etc.

    It's the spelling of the name that has changed so much.

  2. The closest I could find was Parnell which means: Italian, pretty stone. A wanton, immodest girl.  lol Here is a site I had fun looking up my friends last names but sadly mine wasn't in here either.
