Iive in small town 2000 people want to open small store, any ideas?

Your best bet would be to look at the town in question, and realize what they have, and what they need.  I come from a small town (although not quite that small, about 8000 people), and the things that have done the best are the convenience stores and the gift shops (everything else is hit-and-miss).  We have a certain knitting store that is so well known and well liked, I know people who will drive an hour to go and visit it!

Aside from demand from the town in question, it is probably also very important to start a business you have a passion for.
