The recent clean-up warning issued by the International Cricket Council to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has brought Ijaz Butt and his regime on foot. The PCB chief, who was rarely seen at PCB headquarters in Gaddafi Stadium during week days, turned up
there on Sunday owing to the ICC warning.
It was reported that yesterday the PCB chief had a meeting with the chief selector, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587 Khan, at his office followed by meetings with other members of selection committee as well.
Disturbed by the ICC ultimatum, Butt also met with team manager, Intikhab Alam, General Manager, Subhan Ahmed, and Director International Cricket, Zakir http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319.
The board at the same time is planning to launch a move to convince the ICC and the World that the security situation in Pakistan is far better now and the place is safe for the foreign players to visit.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in its attempt to convince the World about the improving law and order situation at home, has decided to send video footage of the recently concluded Faysal Bank T20 Cup, staged in Lahore, to the International Cricket Council
(ICC).
PCB’s top official told the media reporters that the video footage will show the ICC and its members how security arrangements were made for the domestic T20 tournament that featured almost all the top players of the Pakistan cricket team and attracted huge
audiences.
The official revealed that the basic purpose of the board behind sending the video footage is to convince the ICC and its member countries upon the improved security situation and to bring international cricket back to Pakistan.
Pakistan has not hosted a single international match since the terrorist attack on the visiting Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore on 3rd http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 2008.
Several international sides were hesitant to visit the country even before the terrorist attacks but the incident turned out to be the final nail in the coffin for hosting international cricket in Pakistan.
In the aftermath of the attacks, Pakistan was stripped of its co-hosting rights of next year’s ICC World Cup. Pakistan was supposed to co-host 2011 ICC World Cup event besides http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
The top officials of ICC are supposed to scrutinise the video footage and will then send its squad that was formed to help http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket come out of the recent crisis.
