http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 concerned about possible end of rotation of ICC President
The Pakistan Cricket Board http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 presidents after 2015.
Butt, while talking to the media, questioned the rationale behind such a move just days before ICC’s Annual General meeting (AGM) to be held later this month.
The Board meeting is scheduled to be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hong-Kong-c2919 on June 28 and the PCB chief said that they will question the move there.
"We are very disappointed. It is just a few days left for the ICC Board meeting and why such a decision now. What is the hurry, I don't know", said Butt while talking to a private TV channel of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 on this matter now but definitely
we will take up the matter and oppose it at the ICC meeting", he added further.
It was reported on June 6 that Sharad Pawar and his administration is planning to end the rotation system for the appointment of ICC President after Pawar’s successor, Alan Issac, of New Zealand, completes his term in 2015. The issue is expected to be on
the agenda for ICC’s AGM later this month.
The member board countries that would suffer the most, if ICC decided to end the rotation policy, would be Pakistan, and, Bangladesh. Both the Subcontinent countries are yet to nominate their candidates for the coveted posts of ICC President and Vice-President.
Both Pakistan and Bangladesh, have reportedly opposed the idea of scrapping the rotational system.
The post of ICC President was introduced in 1996. The full members of ICC were divided into pairs and each pair was allowed to nominate one candidate with a mutual consensus. The pairs were: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, South
