Ijaz Butt suggests neutral venues to BCCI for Indo-Pak series – News Update
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 has clarified that Pakistan will not play arch rivals India unless they take part in a Pakistan hosted series on a neutral venue.
There were reports that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 might tour their neighbouring country for a complete series at the start of next year. However, nothing has been finalised yet by the boards of the respective countries.
According to Butt, “If they play against us what is due according to the ICC Future Tour Programme, then we will definitely come.”
The PCB chairman further added, “We have already conveyed them (Board of control for Cricket in India) about venues like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033. We have given them a number of options but they are yet to get back to us. Unless they play in a Pakistan-hosted series, we won't play in India.”
The arch rivals last played a bilateral series in 2007, but have played against each other in several http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 won.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousuf Raza Gilani was invited over to see the match in India and this improved the political situation in the region. Soon after that match, talks of a bilateral series between the Asian giants started.
However, the boards of the respective countries have been struggling to finalise an appropriate schedule. The teams are also scheduled to feature in the Asia Cup, which will be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 next year.
It is learnt that the schedule of Indo-Pak series might clash with the Asia Cup, but the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has shown flexibility in the matter, saying that the dates of the tournament could be adjusted according to the much awaited series between the neighbouring nations.
The fans worldwide will be expecting the series to take place in the nearest future, as it provides a thrilling competition. However, it will be hard for the PCB and BCCI to manage a series out of a very busy schedule.
Even though the teams do not face each other in a bilateral series, they will be up against one another in the Asia Cup and probably the ICC Twenty20 World Cup scheduled in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 next year.
