The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Ijaz Butt, has great words for the outgoing coach of Pakistan, Waqar Younis.
Butt, acknowledging the efforts of Waqar, said that the PCB has kept doors open for the coach. The chairman wants him to return to his post after he regains fitness and overcome the issues which forced him to resign.
The departure of Waqar from the team has been considered as a setback for Pakistani cricket by the chairman.
PCB inducted a farewell ceremony in the honour of Waqar after the team arrived from a successful tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
Speaking his heart out at the conference, Butt said, “He did an excellent job with the team as coach and obviously his resignation is a setback to our plans. I just hope he is able to resolve his health and other issues soon and
is welcome to come back to serve http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket anytime.”
Waqar, who was suffering from a liver problem, will rejoin his family in Sydney where he will be operated upon and will pass through a rehabilitation process to ensure the disease does not convert into something serious.
Waqar’s tenure as the coach of Pakistan has been a successful one. The former cricketer had very cordial relationship with the then captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482. The duo saw Pakistan to the semi-finals of 2011 World Cup; however, things
started to heat up between him and the captain afterwards.
Afridi retired from International cricket, holding Waqar and Butt responsible for his decision. Waqar however, remained silent on the whole issue. Afridi was then replaced by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 as the new skipper and Waqar remained
the coach of the side.
The 39-year-old, who was awarded with a souvenir at the farewell party, revealed that he will always be available to serve his country and had it not been a serious issue, he would have not left at all.
“If it had not been absolutely necessary for me to go and resolve my health issues I would not have left the team now because it has done wonderfully well and it has been a great experience working with these players. I am ready
to do anything for Pakistan cricket and hopefully once my issues are resolved I will love to become active again in some way,” said Waqar.
The Board is yet to announce a successor for Waqar, as they are still in search for a suitable candidate.
