The Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chief, Ijaz Butt’s future as chairman of the board is in doubts, as his family does not want an extension in his career, after his tenure ends on October 8, 2011.
"But the issue now is what Butt himself wants because in recent times it is no secret that there is growing pressure on him from his family to step down from the PCB post," a source told.
Butt was appointed as the chairman of the PCB in October 2008. The former cricketer had been involved in different controversies with different players and his chairmanship received immense criticism.
Apart from this, during his reign, there came different cases of spot-fixing and match fixing by some players.

After being declared guilty by the International Cricket Council's anti-corruption tribunal, the trio were handed lengthy bans.
Talking about his career as a chairman, Butt revealed that the decision of his future is up to the chief patron of the board, President Asif Ali Zardari.
Media reports have revealed that the President Zardari has unofficially informed Butt that he would extend his term even after October 8.
The source also indicated the Butt himself during the internal meetings has mentioned that he would not prolong his tenure once it gets over, as it has been hard for him to manage with his official duties, business and other responsibilities
with family.

Any country which fails to do so, will have to suffer heavy bans.

However, the PCB has opposed this recommendation, stating that the circumstances in Pakistan are different, as president Zardari is the chief patron of the board, who appointed Butt as the chairman.
