Ijaz Butt’s meeting with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625’s officials regarding PTT produces no result – Cricket News Update
Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman, Ijaz Butt’s meeting with the International Cricket Council, conducted at Lord’s, during the 2000th Test on July 21, ended wihtout result.
The chairman was supposed to discuss the Pakistan Task Team’s report with the world’s governing body, as the PCB had objections to some of the recommendations. Other than this, the chairman was also to discuss the Future Tours Programme’s (FTP), which includes
a series between Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
The Task Team, during the global bodie’s five-day long annual conference at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hong-Kong-c2919 at the end of June, presented a report with 63 recommendations for upgradation of the cricketing structure in Pakistan.
The board was supposed to give its observations on the report within a time period of seven days to ICC. However, the PCB had reservations regarding some of the report’s recommendations, because in its views, the report had some factual errors.
A PCB source revealed that Butt did not have any useful discussion with ICC officials regarding the issues he wanted to address earlier. He added that the PCB is waiting for the global governing body to respond to its observations and suggestions.
The main issue which the PCB raised was that the Task Team, headed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Charles-Giles-Clarke-c49957, prepared the report without visiting Pakistan even once.
“We told the task team many times that they needed to visit Pakistan while compiling their report, adding that the board would still welcome any proposed trips by members of the panel to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755,” said PCB’s chief operating officer, Subhan Ahmad, in his
earlier statement.
Another major recommendation in the report was that the country’s president should not have any involvement in the board’s affairs, though Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, is the chief patron of the board and also appointed Butt as chairman.
The ICC, in its annual conference, also ordered all the member countries to remove governmental and political interference from their respective cricket boards.
The world’s governing body has given a two-year time frame for the implementation of this instruction, after which the countries will have to face bans from ICC.
