  1. Buster Douglas made the blueprint for beating Tyson. I could see Ike Ibeabuchi following that same blueprint.

  2. actually mike tyson made the blueprint for buster...party alot and play in japanese bordelos for a month before he fought..

  3. I dont listen to many of the Tyson bashers.  Lately he's not very popular among many boxing fans.  That will change after he's gone for a while.  Mike would have been a handful for anyone.  Still, he had his share of weaknesses.

You have to actually see Ibeabuchi to appreciate his talents.  He had weaknesses too.  However, not many in today's boxing would have been able to overcome his strengths enough to exploit them.  Most would have failed in the attempt.  I dare say that Tyson may well be among them.

If Anyone took a punch as well as Tyson it's Ibeabuchi.  He was just as durable as Tyson and there wasn't much difference in the power between the two.  IF Tyson had an edge in power it wasn't great enough to make a difference.  If Mike had one advangage he was faster.

Mike's speed would really be his best chance for a win.  However, Ike was at least as durable as Mike.  In so many ways he's like a mirror image of Tyson only taller.  He can match or even surpass Tyson in sheer strength.  Ibeabuchi is a VERY STrong man.

I can see Tyson landing early.  It's his best shot.  However,  I can also see Ibeabuchi surviving Tyson's early assult.  When pushed, there was always a marked difference in Tyson's perfomance in the first round and as early as the third round, depending on how hard his opponent was able to push him or how busy he kept Mike.  He would have PLENTY of work cut out for him against Ibeabuchi.

I just think Ike could match Mike in every way in the early going, giving up only in hand speed, which would not really serve Mike well enough to make a difference.  Both had stamina problems, which is the way to beat either of them, but Ike would exaust Mike before Mike could KO him.   He would take the best Mike could dish  out.

You would see a marked decline in Tyson's output by round 4.  You would also see that look of concern that became all so familiar in the latter part of his career.  He would simply not be able to hurt or intimidate Ibeabuchi.  I dare say that, if anything Tyson would be a bit leary.

Ike would step up the attack in the 5th and notice that Tyson's resistance is declining with each passing minute.   Mike is surviving on instinct but it's not enough.  Ike becomes bolder and begans to land at will.  He throws every conceivable punch from every angle.

By round 7, Tyson, ever the granite chin, would have his will broken not his chin.  As he is backing up from a stiff uppercut inside, an over-hand right drops him into the ropes.  As Mike is going down Ike lands an even harder right.  Tyson sags to one knee.  He's up because his instinct tells him to do so.  However, he's in bad shape.

Because of who he is the referee allows Tyson to continue.  not a good decision in Tyson's case as he doesn't see the left hook that puts him in the corner he wasn't far from to begin with.  Ike lets loose and Tyson is defenseless as the referee steps in.  Tyson's chin and a benevolent referee save him from further embarassment.  However, his will broken, he cannot continue.

    Ibeabuchi by TKO in 7

It's a real shame this fight never happened.  However, it would take some serious politics in order for it to happen.   History is full of dominant champions who avoided certain stern challenges.  Ali and Louis are the only ones who never missed a challenge.

Holmes took on everyone but as he became older people accused him of ducking Thomas and Page.  He would have handled both easily but he can't fight forever so I dont hold that against him.  To his credit, it's not Lennox' fault that Bowe was afraid of him.  He would have beaten Bowe in 4.

I am not sure Camp Tyson would ever have wanted to tangle with Ibeabuchi in the first place.

  4. tyson by knockout in the 3rd...ike was good, aggresive and strong..but tysons bob-n-weave defense and bone crushing uppercuts would have devistated ike....because of tysons short low stature when boxing, it would have been difficult for ike to get any kind of clean shots off....in prison, i give the edge to ike though..he most likely kept a plastic shank on him..

  5. If Mike doesn't knock out Ike in the first or second round, then he'll be down for the count!!  LOL !!!

  6. You know I seen Ibeabuchi and Tua bang for 12 rounds and in my opinion was an exciting fight. Tyson will always be remembered for a fast powerful fighter who lit up the Heavyweight division in his prime and that will be it. Both had chins as Tyson's KO losses came from him taking punches for a lot of rounds and just getting fruastrated. Ibeabuchi was hit by hard hooks from Tua and never looked fazed. Ibeabuchi would whether thr early rounds and give Tyson trouble by the mid to late rounds. Ibeabuchi by TKO in 8.

  7. This fight could go either way.

  8. Ibeabuchi by KO in round 7

Ibeabuchi had the tools to become heavyweight champion and in my opinion would have had it not been for him going to prison.

He had a good chin and plenty of power. And is most recognized for his wins over Byrd and Tua.

Mike Tyson is the most overrated heavyweight of all time and is known for beating average fighters or over the hill greats such as Holmes and Spinks, He never beat any great fighters whilst they were in there prime and was exposed by the likes of Douglas, Holyfield and Lewis.

I find it disgusting that some people actually place this guy in the top 10 heavyweights of all time.

As for the fight Both men had great power but the difference here would be Ike's ability to take a punch and his stamina which Tyson had neither of.

  9. This would be an interesting fight to watch, both of them were formidable boxers in their primes and both oof them had emotional issues that they could not handle, if ike ikeabuchi wasn't a psycho he could have gone on to become one of the greatest heavy weights of our generation unfortunately he ruined it, I have read on various discussion boards and in articles people claiming that Ike would have been the saviour of the heavyweight division and could have gone on to become the greatest fighter of all time. Even respected HBO analyst Max Kellerman once stated that Ike would have murdered Lennox Lewis if they had ever fought.

So was he really that good? Well, in a word, no. It’s easy to make a legend out of what might have been and I’m sure that, given the state of the division at present, most people just want to believe that it didn’t have to be the way it is.

However, he would have certainly have won some version of the world championship, especially when you take into account that his former victim Chris Byrd went on to win the WBO and IBF crowns. He could have beaten Lennox, after all Hasim Rahman did, but it was unlikely. If they had have met I would have fancied the Brit to out jab him and win on points.

tyson is a story we all know too well. In their primes i think that ikeabuchi could beat him however tyson managed to accomplish more in his short prime years than ikeabuchi ever did,,,,and no i am no tyson butt kisser, i am a nigerian who is disappointed in the way things turned out for both fighters.

Tyson loses as he didn't have the coping skills for competitive fighting.  On a side note, both men are arrested after the fight for separate assaults against a woman.
