Ikea chairs and table..circa 1991?

Question

i have stripped the white paint off of me Ikea table and chair set, i purshased this set in 1991..what kind of wood is it ???

i want to stain it and i cannot figure out what kind of wood it is?

if you do know what kind of wood it is..what is the best way to stain it to end up with a rich brown-mahogany loking finish?

If it is real wood, and it is pale in color, it is likely pine, an inexpensive wood commonly used for low-cost furniture.

Minwax makes an excellent mohogany stain and it is available at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware and numerous paint shops.
