A street in his native Mostoles was named after Real Madrid and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815, who was bestowed with yet another honour for his glittering career.
In a ceremony in Casillas’ home town, Mostoles, the Mayor announced that in order to cherish the achievements of the city’s most famous son, they will name a street after him.
The Euro 2008 and 2010 FIFA World Cup winning captain was invited to the event where 'Avenida de los Deportes' was officially renamed as 'Iker Casillas Avenue'.
On receiving the honour, Casillas thanked the mayor for the goodwill gesture and stated that it is always a pleasure to return to his hometown.
“I am very proud to return to the city where I grew up,” Casillas said on Thursday after the unveiling of the new street sign bearing his name.
“I want to thank the mayor for everything he has done and especially my coaches past and present.
“It's an added responsibility that my name will always be attached to Mostoles, as well as a joy, a pride and an honour. Sometimes dreams do come true.
“If a guy from here became Real Madrid’s goalkeeper, why not a boy from another street here?”
After receiving such an honorary reception, Real Madrid's academy graduate will now return to Santiago Bernabeu, as the capital club will resume its La Liga campaign.
