Ikuya Matsumura claims Boys 200m butterfly title – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Ikuya Matsumura of Itoman claimed gold medal of the Boys 200m butterfly on final day of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Sunday, September 23.
Matsumura served notice of his talent in the distant butterfly discipline where he overpowered his strongest swimmer and ensured his place on the victory stand for gold medal.
Matsumura experienced strong contest from Ryo Fujimoto throughout the race but with his strong determination, he edged him out over the finishing wall for the title.
He remained just a touch ahead of his following swimmer and surfaced on the wall for the crown by clocking a marvellous time of 2 minutes and 02.82 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Fujimoto, who stayed only 0.13 seconds behind and secured silver medal of the race by producing a time of 2 minutes and 02.95 seconds.
The second position holder was trailed by Koheim Fukazawa of Itoman, who was 1.79 seconds behind and occupied third position of the race by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 04.74 seconds.
Similarly, Fukazawa remained 1.03 seconds ahead of Chris Grimmett-Norris of NCSA, who settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by posting a time of 2 minutes and 05.77 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Benjamin N Southern of NCSA, who stayed two body lengths apart and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 07.66 seconds.
Southern was trailed by Joseph J Carbone of NCSA, who remained almost 1.80 seconds apart and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.42 seconds for sixth position.
Carbone was traced by Zachary L Fong of NCSA, who was 2.23 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing blockade as seventh fastest swimmer by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 11.65 seconds.
Takuya Tsuda of Itoman made a prominent improvement in his pace but he was disqualified from the event due to an improper start.
In addition, Matsumura was extremely pleased with his title claiming effort in the 200m event and collected medal after the event.
