Ilaria Bianchi conquers Women’s 100m butterfly prelims: Day four – European LC Championships
Ilaria Bianchi of Italy conquered the preliminary rounds of Women’s 100m butterfly on fourth day of the continued European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Thursday, May 24.
The 22-year-old Bianchi experienced strong resistance from her following swimmer throughout the discipline but with her utter determination, she managed to outperform her on the finishing blockade for fastest spot of the event.
Bianchi followed the lead of Norway’s Ingvild Snildal in the first lap, but with her furious efforts, she occupied top qualification spot of the event by clocking a time of 58.31 seconds.
Her effort remained exactly 0.10 seconds ahead of Snildal, who earned second best position of the discipline by producing a time of 58.41 seconds.
Third fastest qualification spot of the event was secured by Amit Ivri of Israel, who stayed 0.23 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end with the timing of 58.64 seconds.
Ivri was chased by Martina Granstroem of Sweden, who remained just 0.20 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and hit the finishing end for fourth position by producing a time of 58.84 seconds.
Following that, the audience experienced forceful efforts of Ukraine’s Sergiy Frolov, who dominated the qualifying rounds of Men’s 800m freestyle.
The 20-year-old Frolov stayed marginally ahead of his closest challenger as he sprinted his way towards the finishing end with the timing of 7 minutes and 57.54 seconds.
His notable effort remained only 0.07 seconds faster from Gabriele Detti of Italy, who finished his swim in second best place by reporting a time of 7 minutes and 57.61 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was trailed by Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy, who was just 0.31 seconds apart and hit the finishing wall with an effort of 7 minutes and 57.92 seconds.
Paltrinieri was chased by Sebastien Rouault of France, who remained only 0.02 seconds behind and settled on the wall with the timing of 7 minutes and 57.94 seconds.
In addition, the arena applauded for furious efforts of all participants in their exclusive events while these swimmers will face each other in the semi-finals of their events.
