Ilaria Bianchi conquers Women’s 100m butterfly semi-final - FINA Swimming Championships (25m)
Ilaria Bianchi of Italy conquered the semi-final of Women’s 100m butterfly on day four of the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday, December 15.
Bianchi showered her expertise in the semi-final of the 100m discipline and proved her eligibility in the playoff as strongest swimmer for the title.
Bianchi remained only a touch ahead of her closest swimmer and tapped the wall for first position with an effort of 56.60 seconds.
Bianchi was followed by Noemie It-Ting Thomas of Canada, who remained only 0.04 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with a fantastic effort of 56.64 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Jemma Lowe of Great Britain, who was 0.52 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and settled on the finishing end for third position by producing an effort of 57.16 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Zige Liu of China, who remained 0.08 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by clocking an effort of 57.24 seconds.
Subsequently, Liu enjoyed an advantage of 0.27 seconds over her following swimmer, Claire Donahue of USA, who made her way into the playoff as fifth fastest swimmer by clocking an effort of 57.51 seconds.
Donahue remained 0.11 seconds faster from Silvia Di Pietro of Italy, who was unable to make any substantial improvement in her pace but managed to enter the playoff as sixth fastest swimmer with an effort of 57.62 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was obtained by Kathleen Hersey of USA, who was 0.03 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and completed her race in a time of 57.65 seconds.
Last qualification spot of the race was obtained by Louise Hansson of Sweden, who was 0.14 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 57.79 seconds.
In addition, Bianchi was overjoyed with her top notch effort in the race and articulated that she would try hard to live up to the expectations of her followers by acquiring the title of the same event.
