Ilaria Bianchi earns Women’s 100m butterfly gold – European SC Swimming Championships
Ilaria Bianchi of Italy earned gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on concluding day of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Sunday, November 25.
Bianchi continued her gruelling efforts in the four-lap butterfly discipline and claimed victory in the race in an easy manner. With her immaculate efforts, she remained prominently faster from her closest rival and stepped on the podium for gold medal.
Bianchi enjoyed more than a half body length lead over her toughest challenger and hit the finishing wall for gold medal with a timing of 56.40 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kimberly Buys of Belgium, who stayed 0.60 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall for second position by posting a time of 57.00 seconds.
Buys was trailed by Jeanette Ottesen Gray of Denmark, who stayed 0.13 seconds slower from her former finisher and reached the finishing blockade for bronze medal by touching the wall with an effort of 57.13 seconds.
Fourth spot of the race was obtained by Zsuzsanna Jakabos of Hungary, who stayed 0.49 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall by producing a time of 57.62 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Birgit Koschischek of Austria, who stayed half body length behind and appeared on the finishing end by producing a time of 58.26 seconds.
Similarly, Koschischek remained only 0.05 seconds ahead of Veronika Popova of Russia, who reached the finishing blockade in sixth place by clocking an effort of 58.31 seconds.
Afterwards, the audience witnessed exhausting efforts of Silvia di Pietro of Italy, who tried her level best to ascend on the overall rankings list but failed to do so and ended her race in seventh place by touching the wall with a timing of 58.66 seconds.
Pietro was followed by Iris Rosenberger of Turkey, who stayed 0.63 seconds apart and ended her swim in eighth place by posting a time of 59.29 seconds.
Furthermore, Bianchi was contented with her title claiming effort in the discipline and stressed that she would try hard to acquire the same in forthcoming events.
