Ilaria Bianchi grabs Women’s 100m butterfly gold - FINA Swimming Championships (25m)
Ilaria Bianchi of Italy grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on concluding day of the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey, on Sunday, December 16.
The Italian swimmer demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the playoff of the butterfly discipline as she went full rampant and tapped the wall for gold medal.
Bianchi’s title claiming effort remained half a body length ahead of her closest competitor as she transpired on the finishing wall for gold medal by producing an effort of 56.13 seconds.

Fourth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Noemie It-Ting Thomas of Canada, who was 0.26 seconds slower and touched the wall for fourth position by hitting the wall with an effort of 56.92 seconds.
Subsequently, Thomas was followed by Claire Donahue of USA, who suffered a deficit of only 0.08 seconds from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 57.00 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Kathleen Hersey of USA, who was 0.35 seconds slower and touched the wall with the timing of 57.35 seconds.
Hersey was chased by Silvia Di Pietro of Italy, who was only half a body length behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade for seventh place by touching the wall with the timing of 58.14 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Daynara de Paula of Brazil, who was unable to outsmart any of her challengers and stayed 1.50 seconds slower, clocking a time of 59.64 seconds.
In addition, Bianchi received massive appreciation from the audience for her exhausting efforts and articulated that she will try hard to live up to the expectations of her supporters by accomplishing the same in forthcoming events.
