I’ll Have Another says good-bye to his fans at his home-base of Hollywood Betfair Park
I’ll Have Another bids farewell at his home-track of Hollywood Betfair Park before he makes his way to Japan for stud duty.
The charge of Doug O’Neill made the most of his career, and showed what he was really made of when he landed two victories in the prestigious races that are part of the American Triple Crown.
He notched a victory in the Kentucky Derby, and carried the same composure into the Preakness Stakes.
Due to the fact that, he sustained an injury to tendinitis in his left front leg, he couldn’t compete in the Belmont Stakes and complete the trio.
On 7th July, 2012, he was paraded between races at his home base, so his fans could see him before he made the journey.
The son of Flower Alley, foaled by mare Arch's Gal Edith, was brought out from his paddock under rider, Mario Gutierrez, who represented the owner, J. Paul Reddam in white and purple silks.
The three-year-old colt was sold to Japanese breeders, who will transport him. The sophomore will enter quarantine on 8th July, 2012, for thirty days and will then be shipped.
Trainer Doug O’Neill assured the media that the runner is in good hands as he said:
“He's going to a first-class place,” he also said. “He's going to get the best mares, he's going to be super well taken care of. We're going to stay on top of everything and make sure if they have any hiccups or any questions, we'll be there to support
them.''
The response from the fans was amazing; the trainer referred to this and said that it just shows how beloved this horse is.
The trainer explained that a lot of people want to “throw dirt on the sport” but this parade and love from the fans shows that racing is still alive.
Rider Mario Gutierrez reflected on the runner’s career and stated:
“He absolutely took me to places and made my dreams come real. For that I will be grateful my whole life,'' the rider said. “He's going for his second career, he's not hurt, he's happy and healthy. Now we hopefully can see in the future one of his
babies running and competing in the big races too.''
