Ill coach Chuck Pagano backs Indianapolis Colts win against New England Patriots – NFL News
Emotional scenes were witnessed among Indianapolis Colts players and officials after their ill coach Chuck Pagano showed up on the field during a practice session on Friday (Nov. 16).
The visit was a surprise albeit inspirational for the Colts as they prepared for taking on the New England Patriots on the weekend and coach Bruce Arians showered praised on Pagano to be with the team for a while in spite of his illness.
Bruce said:
"It was a beautiful moment. He came and enjoyed a good bunch of sunshine and talked to the guys and it was another beautiful day.”
Wide receiver Reggie Wayne said:
"No, I don't think emotion but I think they can with purpose, purpose being that they're not going to let each other down for one common goal. I've seen it so many times where a group of guys band together, and different slogans, 'Won't be denied,' this
or that or whatever, they all come up with something, this is just, '1-2-3-Chuck."
Chuck at the moment is undergoing second phase of chemotherapy, and results of the first leg of treatment were positive, much to the satisfaction of all Colts.
He had earlier witnessed a game of Colts from coaches’ box, appeared to be fine and happy. In his absence the replacement coach Bruce Arians has done the job excellently, and Chuck recognised the hard work that the team have been doing in his reign.
The Colts under supervision of Bruce have managed a record of 6-3 and a playoff opportunity has started becoming a possibility for them. Bruce said he has credited all wins to the coach.
It is for the first time that Bruce is performing a fulltime coaching job and has rather done well. He has led the team to a four-game winning streak and has confidence of adding more victories.
The team are facing another stiff challenge this weekend as they are up against a far better side. The Patriots are the best defensive side in the league and it will be really difficult for rookie quarterback Andrew Luck to have freebees in the course of
the game, he will have to work really hard to get past the ball from Patriots' defence.
