Question:

Illegal animal trade...! information needed ASAP?

im trying to find links that show the severity of the illegal animal trade, and the consequences of it.

i have been trying to convince some people to release their pets(all of them endangered species, and bought illegally) and to not buy any more.

but they usually argue with me saying that how does it matter as long as they take good care of the animal(which they usually dont, but thats besides the point)..

i want to show to them why the illegal animal trade is WRONG.

if anyone could send me links to articles, essays, documentaries etc that shows this, i would be very grateful...

something shocking/disturbing/thought provoking would be better, since im dealing with people who are quite insensitive to such issues.

thanx

  2. Please come to www.urangutan.com/projects_mawas

it's might be helpfull for your such issues

  3. try http://www.traffic.org/

You can read reports on wildlife trade - not just of live animals for pets, but also parts for consumption, trophies, etc.

Thank you for being aware, and doing something about it.

  4. i think you got the link now, but i am just writing to apreciate your efforts for these pity cretures.  tank you once again, keep it up.

  5. You shouldn't tell your friends to release their animals after they have been in captivity, they would never survive on their own.

  6. If you know people that have endangered species as pets...turn them in..what are you waiting for. These animals cannot just be released back into the wild without dying..if they have now become acclaimated to humans..they would have to be rehabilitated and may never be able to return to their natural environment.  I think they will take it seriously when they are fined and sent to prison once someone turns them in!

  7. Report them to animal controll authorities. They will know the laws, and the people to contact to find good homes (like a wildlife rehabilitation center) for the animals. Plus, they don't have to prove anything to people that don't want to listen, they are law enforcement.
