Illegal immigrants from Mexico - why don't they just....?

You hear all the time about immigrants from Mexico who pay thousands of dollars to "coyotes" to bring them across the border, sometimes they get caught & spend more money on a second attempt, sometimes they are abandoned in the desert...they risk their lives and pay an exorbitant sum with no guarantee...I just want to know why they don't just take a vacation to Vegas or Disney World, and then just never go back? Sure you need a passport, and sure, you will be tracked crossing the border, but its sure cheaper, safer, and more relaiable than swimming the river or corssing the desert??? Even with crossing the border, your entery is tracked, but the U.S. is so far behind in rounding up aliens who overstayed their "visit"....my friend says most Mexicans prolly dont have birth cert or understand about getting a passport so that why.

even if they'd spent thousand of dollars so they can stay at this country, it's still worth it cause if you think about it minimun wage is around $8 so anually they would make at least $20,000. So economy could be why they risk their lives.

the only problem which i have against these immigrants is that they're irresponsible. i have sympathy for those who came to this country for a living but some or Most of them just provide numerous of ofsprings, then live off by governments' welfares. Which us tax-payers have to pay for!!! this truly frustrates me.... How i would have to support their lazyness =P

In order to legally enter the US, a mexican must get a visa from the US State Dept.  The state dept doesn't issue visas to anyone who wants them.  Do a better job of educating yourself on the actual issues.  Most enter illegally because they are poor and would never get a visa issued to them.   I don't condone their actions but if I was in their situation and I saw lax enforcement from both govt's, I would enter illegally too.

Part of the problem with that idea is that many would never be allowed any king of visa for several reasons.

Many have communicable diseases.  Health care is poor in many of the countries that send us the most illegals.  The percentage of illegals that have TB, HIV, viral infections, etc are quite high - its actually very scary AND very costly to taxpayers.

Many just want to come here to breed.  They love our anchor baby laws.

Many have criminal convictions for crimes that would forbid them from entry.

Many want to bring entire families into the country and usually at least some family members have one of the above.

Many are not educated enough to acquire a visa, passport and plan the trip.

Most of them don't want to apply for Visa or green card because it take years to get one. These people need more money to support their families and are willing to come to this country no matter what. Do you think the new fence going to help the border? It's a total waste of money.

Vegas and Disney World are on our side of the border, so they have to make it here before they can go on vacation. When they do make it here, and if they haven't been robbed by the coyotes, they have to eat, buy cloths and find a place to stay....then comes work, and there goes all their free time because the employers take advantage of them and work them like animals.

A lot of illegal Mexicans do not understand the system and do not have anybody to help them out, and they are afraid of getting deported while attempting to file for visas or citizenship.

I agree with the guy above me, it's a lack of morals and laziness.

They knowingly p**s on our immigration laws because they don't want to wait, that's about as pathetic as it gets.

And then they want us to feel sorry for them, no thanks. I'm no idiot.

i just want to say that not all mexicans are "illiterate" in 2 languages like you say.

im mexican and i speak perfect spanish, english and i am even learning french.

so get your facts straight

Don't think that obtaining a visa is easy. Having a passport is not enough to get a visa. you have to have financial assets, respectable job, clean history, and many other things to be approved for a visit. In addition, Mexicans who had been arrested by border patrol, or those who have been deported previously are automatically denied admission to the U.S.
