Illegal to tax tea?

I worked in a restaurant a few years back and my boss had told me that it is illegal to tax tea due to the Boston Tea Party. Does anyone know if there is any truth behind this?

LOL -- your boss was kidding you.

(Actually, if the restaurant was in Boston, he's right -- there is no tax on tea in Boston. There's also no tax on coffee, or sugar, or milk, or any other food product, because there's no tax on food in that state!)
