Illinois BB gun law?

Question

Heres the question. I just got two BB/Pellet guns. One is a rifle, and one is a pistol. I was wondering what are the laws on these. Specifically for Kane County. My friend has a pretty big back yard and i was wondering if it is legal to just shoot stuff in his backyard. also what is the law on transporting the guns? I would have to have them in my car until i get to his house.

As long as your not in a big city, you should be fine.

The only airguns(BB/pellet) that Illinois does not have heavy restrictions on are .177 caliber pellet or BB guns with a MV under 700fps.

"Generally" speaking, in most states, if you have the rifle/pistol unloaded in a locked case in the trunk of your car, you are okay.

If he lives outside the city limits, you're probably going to be okay. If he lives in town/city then probably not.

If you have a little scrap lumber, you can build a BB/pellet trap for practically nothing.
