How long does a moving violation in Illinois stay on a person's driving record?

  1. It is part of a permanent record.  Permanent is the key word.  After a certain period of time, it can not be used as evidence against you.


  2. A moving violation stays on your drivers abstract record - your permanent record at the Secretary of states Office forever.

    If you are convicted of a traffic violation - it will be revealed to law enforcement for one year after the conviction - if your license is ran by a police officer on his computer.

    Now a police officer can run an abstract at the station, but we usually do not need to in most cases.
