Question:

Illinois Tollway Help?

OK- Got a letter saying they are going to suspend my license for non-payment of tolls. So I call, the tollway says that it has been turned over to a collection agency. The collection agency wants $600.

They say fine is for 1994 (yes, 1994) and that they have mailed many notices to me at my address on record then, and that its my fault that I did not keep the Tollway up to speed with my address. The real kicker is that they mailed the suspension letter to my current address. My first communication from them since 2005.

Who can I call for help. The Tollway says not there problem, the SOS says that I should talk to the Tollway, and of course the bill collector only wants money.

Am I going to have to go borrow money and pay the extortion to keep my license.

  1. i got a bill for 1400 dollars for tolls... but they were from 2007 when i had a rental car.  i had to call the tollway and told them i have a transponder now and they removed all the 'fines' i just had to pay the tolls..

if you already are in a collection agency, that's a tough one.  who is suspending your license?  if IL tollway is suspending your license... than they should definitely be the ones to help you.  i'd call and try to get further than the agent taking the calls... ask for a manager.  tell them you need to discuss the issue because you were never informed of these notices... and now 14 YEARS later... you're getting your license suspended..

doesn't make sense.  theres definitely someone that can help you.  dont give up. and whos threatening taking your license?  i don't get it... a collection agency can't interfene with goverment regulations and start suspending peoples driving privileges.

so go to whoever is threatening to suspend your license. hopefully you have an IPASS now, they worked with me due to teh fact that i had one.  good luck

  2. pay up or walk

  3. I love IL Government.

I would pay the extension and seek out an attorney.  I hope you do hav an IPASS now as that may help your case and maybe you'll just have to pay the toll amount that may be less than $600.00
