Hello all,

I am on valid H4 visa and currently have an Instruction permit issued from Chicago, Illinois DMV, since I am its resident.

Whereas, I am going on official travel with my husband for 3 months to Denver, Colorado.

1. Can I join some driving school in Denver with an Instruction permit from Illinois?

2. Can I learn driving with my husband in Colorado on the Illinois instruction permit? He holds valid Illinois driver's license for 3 years now.

Note: I cannot reapply for Instruction permit from Colorado since I cannot provide residence proof of Colorado, since I am there just for 3 month official visit with my husband.

Thanks in advance.

  1. check with the Colorado dmv ,when you get there. they may honor the permit, I got a permit in Illinois, and went to a truck driving school in Indiana, but that was several years ago, and they are neighboring states. Don't drive if they won't honor the permit,or give you a temporary one, because your insurance company may not cover if something does happen.I found an illinois highschool drivers education websight that says colorado will honor it, but I would call them to be certain
