Ilya Trishkin earns Men’s 100m butterfly gold crown – 2011 World Deaf Swimming Championships
Ilya Trishkin of Russia earned the gold medal of Men’s 100m butterfly meet on day six of the 2011 World Deaf Swimming Championships on Friday, August 12, in Coimbra, Portugal.
The 22-year-old Trishkin presented a notable swim in the 100m swim, by improving the Deaf Championship Record, with a magnificent timing of 55.70 seconds. His timing was 1.19 seconds under his own championship mark of 56.89 seconds, made by Trishkin in the
qualifying rounds of butterfly event, earlier at the meet. He was 1.80 seconds slower than his own Deaf World Record of 53.90 seconds, set by him at Taipei in 2009.
The gold medallist was trailed by Luca Germano of Italy, who was just 0.19 seconds slower than his prior finisher and submitted a second fastest time of 55.89 seconds. In the meantime, the arena sighted commendable effort of Marcus Titus, who was just 0.62
seconds slower from the silver medallist and reported in a time of 56.51 seconds for bronze medal.
Moments later, Guilherme Maia Kabbach of Brasil emerged as the fourth fastest swimmer of the event, as he remained 0.80 seconds slower than his foregoing competitor and produced a time of 57.31 seconds. Similarly, Kabbach remained 1.86 seconds ahead of Russian
swimmer, Stepan Klimenko, who acquired the fifth finest spot of the swim, with a timing of 59.17 seconds.
The sixth best spot of the event was claimed by Robin Goldberg of Germany, who was just 0.11 seconds slower than Klimenko and posted a time of 59.28 seconds. Likewise, Roman Naumov of Russia was named the seventh position holder of the event, as he was only
0.83 seconds behind Goldberg and clocked a time of 1 minute and 00.15 seconds. Finally, Rostyslav Iakubovskyi of Ukraine ended his swim for eighth position, after he touched the finishing wall in the respective meet with a timing of 1 minute and 00.42 seconds.
The session ended with the remarkable swims of all participants, while the podium finishers were invited on the victory stand after the completion of the session.
